Blog Spotlight: Fly Fishing in South Wales

I just came upon this blog called Fly Fishing in South Wales. I haven’t been following it very long but I really like what I’ve seen so far. The title of the post that the above pic comes from really caught my eye: “Sacrificials”.  It’s funny that as soon as I read the title I knew what to expect. The non fly-fisher might not get it, but the experienced nympher gets it right away.

Onlineflycentral.com: A Fly Fishing Aggregator

Richard Primeaux,  is a Texas fly fisherman who loves to fish.

When I can´t be on the water or at the tying bench I love reading about everything involved in fly fishing and fly tying. As the community of fly fishing writers increases daily, my personal reading blogroll has gotten longer and longer — taking more time to cover every day.

His solution? He created onlineflycentral.com for himself – and now he’s sharing with all of us.  On the site, Richard aggregates, the many fly fishing blog feeds that he reads.  He presents a list of the latest 10 posts from each.

The site is even organized by region, US West, US Middle, US East and international.

Check it out.

Fly Fishing Blog Spotlight: The Slippery Trout

I’ve been enjoying reading this blog for a little while now: The Slippery Trout: A Fly Fishing Blog.

About the Blog In the writer’s own words
This blog is primarily designed to record my time fly fishing for trout in the northeastern United States; however, I write and post about anything I encounter during my fishing expeditions.

Just as it says, Matt, presents a sort of online fishing journal, complete with pics of more than just fish.  In his latest post on Pennsylvania’s Penns , Elk and Fishing Creeks we get fish pics, info on the hatches and some wildflower pics (with identification).

The inclusion of insect hatch info and wildflower pics should be a great help to the fly fisherman interested in Phenology (as we all should be).

From Wikipedia
Phenology is the study of periodic plant and animal life cycle events and how these are influenced by seasonal and interannual variations in climate.

So, check out the wildflower pictures, review the hatch info and take notes. Next year when you see those flowers blooming you’ll know just what flies to tie.
