Daily Fly Fishing Poem #13: The Sound of Defeat

Sipping midges all morning, just above

a tangled deadfall, there is a fish that made

me stay for an hour (or more) and fish,

casting flies invisible to the naked eye

on tippet that barely existed.

That fish taught me how  the sound of defeat

is such a small sound you can hardly even hear it.
