Hook: Stout Wet Fly Hook, size 10 used here
Body: Silver Mylar Tinsel
Rib: Oval Gold Tinsel
Tail: Red Goose or Duck Quill
Wing: Peacock Sword Fibers with a Few Red Quill Fibers
Throat: Black Hackle Fibers
Notes: The Alexandria originated in England. I’ve read that it was so successful that it was banned for a time. I can’t find much more information out about this pattern. My guess is that it was created to imitate small minnows – but I haven’t seen this written anywhere.
